Crossing The Bridge That Leads To Never
You
never thought yourself worthy of any good thing. Here was Williams, your
co-worker, whom you admired so much from the onset. He talked cutely, he walked
elegantly and worked hard too. You knew you started to like him. You knew you
wanted him to talk to you. Those shivers you got when you saw him said it all.
You had fallen for him. Of course, you knew as a lady, you would be killing
your pride by approaching him- no one told you to do it anyways- so you tried
to suppress it
On that Friday morning, you had woken
up later than usual. Perhaps, because of the seasonal movie, Legend of the
Seeker, which you had refused to outgrow after having watched it from your teen
age. Definitely, you loved the love the characters demonstrated and you wanted
a feel of it too. It was 6:30am when your alarm went off, tracing you to dreamland
and releasing you from her grips.
Williams, a young man of about 28
years, was one guy you took your eyes away from whenever you saw him in a
hurry. You thought him too posh and classy for you. You felt you were not good
enough. This same man- maybe, by destiny- approached you in a very unlikely
manner. It was on that day you left home angry. As a fresh graduate, you were
having a hard time dealing with some responsibilities, which you were never
allowed by your parents to explore. You also arrived late to work. As you raced
up the stairs, you accidentally hit your elbow on the rails roughly, crashing
the files you had in your hands. The god-sent angel was right there, as though
waiting for it to happen, he came forward and helped you pack up. You were too
busy to even look up to know who cared so much, but that cologne was familiar,
that was Williams, that was your crush.
“Oh My God,” you heard yourself say. You didn’t know why but the situation was too overwhelming. Here, you were as far as a breath close to someone you had admired for ages. You tried to smile, but the shock was too hard on your lips which busted out with the words, “thank you”. He said something like “Are you ok? You should be careful next time.” But you didn’t want to stay longer to have any conversation, you were already melting to the ground. Your hairy legs were sweating; besides, you hadn’t signed in yet.
You hurriedly entered the general office to sign in and headed to your office. You sat down, wondering if that morning was a dream.
